Chevrolet Corvette C7 Info

The Chevrolet Corvette (C7) is the seventh generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet from 2014 until 2019.

Chevrolet Corvette C7, the seventh-generation of the Corvette sports car, was born in 2013. Offering tremendous handling that rivalled European sports cars and a better price-performance ratio, it is a well-deserved pride of the American automotive industry. A year later, the Corvette C7 Z06, the performance version of the Corvette C7, set a lap time of 7:13.9 at the Niirburgring Nordschleife.

This was the best time for a manual transmission car on the Niirburgring, surpassing the lap time of 7:19.63 set by the previous-generation Corvette C6 ZR1, The Corvette C7 is Corvette’s last front mid-engine car. The body structure of its successor, the Corvette C13, changed to a mid-mounted layout. The father of the Corvette originally conceived the Corvette as a mid-engine racing car.

It was only after many compromises that the front-mid layout was chosen in the end. Sideswipe, an Autobot that appeared in the movies “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Transformers 3: The Dark Side of the Moon”, chose the form of a silver Corvette Stingray concept car and transformed into both the hardtop and convertible versions. The model later became the design blueprint for the Corvette C7.

Later in “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”, the Autobot Crosshairs took the form of a green 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray. Corvette has always been a platform for GM to try new materials and processes. It is also an industry pioneer in composite body technology. Compared with the Corvette C6, the Corvette C7 is a completely redesigned model.

The lightweight frame-type pure aluminum alloy chassis, carbon fiber hood and removable top cover reduce the weight of the entire car by 45kg. The doors, fenders and other parts are made of composite materials, which further reduce the weight by 17kg.
