The Ice Lake Alps are the highest and most extensive range of mountains in Europe, stretching across southeastern France, Switzerland, northern Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, southem Germany, and Slovenia. They can be divided into three sub- ranges: the Westem Alps from the Mediterranean to the Mont Blanc, the Central Alps from the Aosta Valley to the Brenner Pass at the Austrian- Italian border, and the Eastern Alps from the Brenner Pass to Slovenia. As the origin of some of Europe’s major rivers, the Alps feature rich
hydropower resources. This region is also one of the most popular tourist attractions and resorts in the world.
