The BMW M6 GT3 made its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Using the BMW M6 Coupe as the base model and after careful tuning and optimization, the M6 GT3 can provide a horsepower of around 585hp, while weighing just 1,300 kg. R The GT3 race was founded in 2006.

Compared with the GT1 and GT2, which place strict restrictions on the conditions and specifications of the racecars, the rules of GT3 are more relaxed and the specifications of the cars are much closed to mass-produced models. As a result, many automakers invested heavily on creating GT3 racecars. The BMW M6 GT3 is one such racecar that is built by BMW in accordance with the standards and requirements of the GT3.

The BMW M6 GT3 made its debut at 24 Hours of Spa and won the championship. As one of the three major endurance races in the world, 24 Hours of Spa is an extreme test of the skills of drivers and performance of the cars. Many a times, around one-third of the participants cannot finish the race. Subsequently, at the 2020 24 Hours of Nurburgring, BMW M6 GT3 brought home BMW’s 20th overall championship at the competition. In the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the BMW M6 GT3 finished first and second at the 8 Hours of Indianapolis and won once again at the 9 Hours of Kyalami.

The BMW M6 GT3 was also the winning car in the 2018 Macau GT World Cup. In 2019, AAI won the constructors and drivers championships with the BMW M6 GT3 in the China GT Championship. In 2021 , Walkenhorst Motorsport brought two BMW M6 GT3 to the Asian Le Mans Series.
